Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What are StrawFish products made of?

Our products are made from a proprietary blend of sea shell-based resin and enzymatic degradation packages.

Do StrawFish products contain any allergens?

No; the shells are commercially processed and heat-treated to remove any potential remaining allergen proteins. We up-cycle these shells to extract a renewable source of Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3). StrawFish products are also FDA 21 CFR 175.300 tested for direct/indirect food contact safety.

Do StrawFish products get soggy or break down in drinks?

No; our products are designed with the end-user experience in mind – they hold up to both cold & hot temperatures and are tested to only breakdown in simulated landfill & outdoor conditions, not in your beverage or meal.

Why use StrawFish products over other alternatives?

Our products outperform competitors in both hot & cold temperatures, are affordably priced, and they do not require industrial composting in order to fulfill their lifecycle – saving you time, money and stress!

How do StrawFish products break down?

StrawFish products are designed to attract microbes that live in aerobic & anaerobic environments, consistent with the simulated landfill & outdoor conditions these products are tested to. These microbes consume the material, leaving behind only CO2, organic matter and H20.

How long does it take StrawFish products to break down?

Our products are lab tested to biodegrade in 12-18 months in landfill & outdoor conditions.

What further testing are you doing for StrawFish products?

Our products are constantly being tested to the most up-to-date standards on the market. Stay up-to-date with StrawFish innovations by subscribing to our newsletter in the footer!
