No; the shells are commercially processed and heat-treated to remove any potential remaining allergen proteins. We up-cycle these shells to extract a renewable source of Calcium Carbonate (CaCO₃). StrawFish products are also FDA 21 CFR 175.300 tested for direct/indirect food contact safety.
